Title: “Applause Rising Talent Showcase (ARTS)

Synopsis: Audition for International Talent Scout, Manager and producer Kimberley Myers, for a chance to attend the ARTS 2015 Showcase in Orlando Florida.

Audition Format: Live Audition

Preparation:  

PARTICIPANT AUDITION REGISTRATION – Everyone must register individually.
Participants under the age of 18 years must have a parent/legal guardian present to provide proof of age, relationship and ID. Adults must have ID.

PARTICIPATION – Participants may audition for as many categories as they would like.

DRESS CODES – All dress codes are to be strictly observed.

There are several categories including, Cold Read, Improv Performance, Monologues, Dance, Singing, TV Commercial etc and they all have specific guidelines for preparation. (See breakdown for additional info)

Preparation Breakdown: 

  • AUDITION GUIDELINES – COLD READ

The category is intended for the SERIOUS ACTORS or EXTREMELY GIFTED beginners. Child readers must be exceptional readers and should be able to handle pressure well.

Participants are given a dialog script and paired with another participant approximately 5 – 10 minutes before going onstage, scripts can be carried onstage and used as is needed.

Props and costumes are NOT ALLOWED.
Participants should wear a plain cotton t-shirt, polo shirt or oxford shirt in a solid, vibrant color (blue, red, green etc) and a pair of jeans or khaki pants.
NO big hairstyles, or hair obstructing the face.

  • AUDITION GUIDELINES – IMPROV PERFORMANCE

Participants must be at least 10 years old.
This category is geared toward actors with the unique ability to think quickly and improvise, it is intended for the MOST SPONTANEOUS and CREATIVE INDIVIDUALS.

Each participant will perform individually and will be given a random product, service or song title e.g. Pizza Hut, Nationwide Insurance or ‘More than words can say’.

Participant must then make up a 30 second commercial, mini monologue or song on the spot.

NO ONE will be permitted to start over SO JUST KEEP GOING!
Participants should wear a plain cotton t-shirt, polo shirt or oxford shirt in a solid, vibrant color (blue, red, green etc) and a pair of jeans or khaki pants.
NO big hairstyles, or hair obstructing the face.

  • AUDITION GUIDELINES – TV COMMERCIALS

OPEN CATEGORY – ANYONE CAN AUDITION
Participants will be given an age appropriate script to memorise. You will be filmed performing the script and it will be shown as you enter to the talent scout and local director.
Follow the script NO AD LIBBING or rewrites in any way.
YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO START OVER, no matter what keep going!
Participants should wear a plain cotton t-shirt, polo shirt or oxford shirt in a solid, vibrant color (blue, red, green etc) and a pair of jeans or khaki pants.
NO big hairstyles, or hair obstructing the face.

  • AUDITION GUIDELINES – SWIMSUIT – FEMALE, FEMALE PLUS and MALES

PLEASE NOTE – this category is for children 12 and under, and potential fashion and commercial models that are THIN AND PHYSICALLY FIT. Individuals with normal or average body types should NOT enter this competition. International swimsuit modelling standards are very specific; therefore, models that are not thin AND PHYSICALLY FIT will not help themselves by entering this competition.

Participants will enter stage right, follow the X’s on the stage and then exit left. A simple walk with good posture, eye contact and a nice smile is always best.
DO NOT use gimmicks i.e. waving, saluting, winking, curtsying, straightening a necktie etc.
Each participant may walk the runway only ONCE, no doubling back, excessive turns and long pauses.

FEMALE – be guided by the measurement guidelines posted earlier.
Conservative one piece swimsuits, no cutouts, extra low cleavage, holes, mesh inserts or two piece connected by a few strips of material. Backs and sides cannot be missing.
No stockings or hosiery. Bare feet are recommended, but casual sandals are acceptable, NO FLIP FLOPS. No jewellery.
Make-up MINIMAL and IS NOT allowed on children.

FEMALE PLUS – Sizes 10 – 16 – please be guided by the measurements posted earlier. Plus sized models should be tones and well proportioned and would not be considered overweight, but luminous and statuesque. Plus models may wear sheer to waist hose and flat shoes, if desired but may NOT wear coverups or jewellery of any kind.

MALES – please be guided by the measurements posted earlier.
Participants should be physically fit and athletically toned but not too muscular. While every market is different it is better for male models to think ‘Michael Phelps’ rather than ‘Arnold Schwarzenegger’.
Guys should wear a one piece, conservative, boxer style swimsuit that fits properly.
DO NOT wear extremely low hanging swimsuits or suits too far below the knees and DO NOT allow underwear to show.
Bare feet are recommended, but casual sandals are acceptable. NO FLIP FLOPS.

  • AUDITION GUIDELINES – FASHION RUNWAY – MALES

Participants will enter stage right, follow the X’s on the stage and then exit left. A simple walk with good posture, eye contact and a nice smile is always best.
DO NOT use gimmicks i.e. waving, saluting, winking, curtsying, straightening a necktie etc.
Each participant may walk the runway only ONCE, no doubling back, excessive turns and long pauses.

MALES – No No business attire, one-piece outfits, swimsuits or evening wear of any kind.
Full length form fitting jeans (skinny, slim, straight leg etc.) and a form fitting solid white or black tank shirt. Tanks CANNOT be mesh or see through material.
Jeans cannot have any holes, rips or tears. Only ONE worn accessory is allowed N.B. a simple belt with pants is NOT considered an accessory.
Any type of shoe is allowed.

  • AUDITION GUIDELINES – FASHION RUNWAY – FEMALE & FEMALE PLUS

Participants will enter stage right, follow the X’s on the stage and then exit left. A simple walk with good posture, eye contact and a nice smile is always best.
DO NOT use gimmicks i.e. waving, saluting, winking, curtsying, straightening a necktie etc.
Each participant may walk the runway only ONCE, no doubling back, excessive turns and long pauses.

FEMALE – No dresses, skirts, one piece outfits, swimsuits or evening wear of any kind are permitted.
Full length skinny jeans or jeggings and plain white or black tank shirt. Jeans cannot have any holes, rips or tears. Only ONE accessory is allowed e.g. belt, scarf, small necklace, small earrings which CANNOT be removed on stage. Any type of shoe or boot is acceptable but no heels higher than 4″ . Appropriate undergarments must be worn, bras and bra straps MUST NOT be visible

  • AUDITION GUIDELINES – FASHION RUNWAY – CHILD 12 and under.

Participants will enter stage right, follow the X’s on the stage and then exit left. A simple walk with good posture, eye contact and a nice smile is always best.
DO NOT use gimmicks i.e. waving, saluting, winking, curtsying, straightening a necktie etc.
Each participant may walk the runway only ONCE, no doubling back, excessive turns and long pauses.

CHILD FASHION RUNWAY OUTFIT (12 and under) – Children should wear designer type clothing like those seen in catalogs and websites by Laura Ashley, Tommy Hilfiger etc. THIS DOES NOT MEAN that they must wear designer clothes, but the should be able to emulate the LOOK.
Large logos, emblems, numbers or writing is discouraged as they draw attention away front he participant and toward the clothing.
ABSOLUTELY NO evening wear, patent gowns, swimsuits and heals or platforms higher than 1 inch. One accessory may be worn e.g. a small simple age appropriate earrings or a scarf, which cannot be removed on stage. ALWAYS keep it cute and simple.

  • AUDITION GUIDELINE – PHOTOGRAPHY – Print Models

ALL AGES ARE ENCOURAGED – 4 years and up!!
Dress – Solid white or black t-shirt with jeans, no MINI SKIRTS or HOT SHORT all bottoms should be at least 2 inches above the knees. Clean, casual shoes, no jewelry or accessories are permitted. Bras and or Bra straps MUST NOT be visible.
Participants will enter stage right and walk directly to the microphone and give a short self introduction.
Introduction example – “Hello my name is John Doe. I am 14 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall and I am in Form one”
Points will be deducted for introductions longer than this one.
Participants will then walk to the end of the runway, turn around walks back down the runway and exits left. This is NOT a runway fashion show, modelling is not permitted.
Children under twelve do not need to announce their height and mature adults do not need to announce their age.
YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO START OVER!

  • AUDITION GUIDELINES – MUSICIANS

There is NO category for instrumentalists, however instrumentalists that can also sing are encouraged to enter.
Participants must choose their own material and edit it down to A MINUTE AND A HALF.
Duos and groups are welcomed to audition but each member must register as an individual.

  • AUDITION GUIDELINES – SINGING and DANCING

Participants must choose their own material and edit it down to A MINUTE AND A HALF.
Duos and groups are welcomed to audition but each member must register as an individual.
DO NOT choose songs with profanity, adult or explicit content, vulgar language or strong sexual innuendoes.
Dress according to your chosen material but stay away from flashy or elaborate costumes.
SINGERS – Accompaniment for singers is not required but highly recommended. Accompaniment should have very little if any background vocals. Music MUST also be edited down to A MINUTE AND A HALF. Recorded accompaniment MUST be on CD only. NOTHING ELSE should be on the CD.
DANCERS – Stay away from vulgar or strong sexual movements.
YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO START OVER!
Singers and dancers are strongly encouraged to consider auditioning for TV commercial and photography.

  • AUDITION GUIDELINES – Monologues

Participants must choose their own monologues and edit it down to ONE minute.
Try to keep it lighthearted and humorous as these monologues tend to work better than ‘heavy and dramatic’ ones.
DO NOT use profanity or explicit adult material.
Some of the best monologues are taken from movies and television.
Costumes and props are not allowed.
Monologues MUST BE memorised.
YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO START OVER!
