Description:  The New Actor’s Workshop has been taught at Trinidad Theatre Workshop for more than two decades and has launched the careers of many of Trinidad’s most prominent professional actors.

This class is designed for adults interested in gaining acting experience and breaking into the theatre world. Whether you are just out of University and interested in learning to act or have previous experience in the theatre, the New Actor’s Workshop is a great way to go. You will learn to use your voice, your body, and access your emotions, as well as the fundamental elements of staging and performing.

By taking a New Actor’s Workshop, moreover, you put yourself on the theatre map and have the option of becoming part of internal and external productions as a result of exposure to us. In this term we are introducing new elements to our repertoire: Self-Development, Effectiveness and Communication Competency Skills. This is a programme designed to provide skills that will improve your understanding of self and provide the opportunity to analyse the impact of behaviours and attitudes required for effectiveness.

Participants will have the opportunity to develop communication competency, increase confidence and in so doing gain a sense of empowerment.

Duration:  19th September – 5th December 2017

Facilitator: Danielle Lewis

Danielle is a skilled and passionate actor, teacher and theatre maker who comes with a wealth of experience having worked on a number of projects locally and internationally.

She possesses a B.A. in Theatre Arts from the UWI, St. Augustine as well as an M.F.A. in Acting from East 15 Acting School. Danielle has taught Drama/Theatre Arts at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels and has witnessed the awesome power of the arts to transform a person’s thinking and ultimately their behaviour. Her particular interests are in the fields of acting and theatre making/devising. She enjoys traveling and learning about the performing arts traditions of different countries.
