Host: Tafar Chia Lewis
Presents: The Journey Towards Authenticity
Discipline: Acting / Theatre, Creative Business
Skill Level: Intermediate – Advanced
Description: “If I am not showing up as my authentic self, I will not facilitate authenticity in my work as an actor.” This statement embodies the philosophy of this workshop. Participants embark on a four hour journey starting with the power of the voice and its connection to the body. Kristin Linklater and Nadine George’s vocal technique coupled with other explorations, aimed at building our vocal techniques and performance routines will be facilitated.
Many performer’s yearn for a sense of freedom in performance, thus, Nikolai Demidov’s acting technique is a possible tool at achieving this. The workshop implores his technique, seeking to reclaim their most powerful weapon — the art of living onstage spontaneously, here and now in order to craft compelling authentic characters.
Finally, we end this journey utilizing all the techniques culminating in a devised performance of possible monodrama-performances that can be self-produced in the future.
Beginners can also benefit from the tenants of this workshop experience.
